OrangeCup. Go Getcha Some.

img_01611.jpgFor all the lovely folks who are just itching to complain in the comments section about us writing about food that is delivered to our offices: Today is another one of those times. Save your finger strength, because even if I had to pay for OrangeCup, I would blog about it. This stuff is darn tasty. Even Nancy said she loved it, and we all know she’s got an extremely highly developed palate.

Yes, the OrangeCup peeps did just bring us by 36 cups of yogurt, complete with toppings. But here’s what else is good: It’s a local company, started by two UT grads (hence the Orange, I’m guessing), and their first shop just opened up in NorthPark Center. They offer three kinds: tangy Natural, citrusy Zum, and berry-y Acai Berry. The favorite in our office was definitely Natural, with Acai coming in second. The yogurt is all-natural, it’s fat-free, and low-cal. Toppings include all kind of fruit, coconut, granola, peanuts, and my favorite, Fruity Pebbles.

Next up is a store in Stonebriar Mall, with many locations to follow. On Saturday, local musician Brad Thompson will be performing from 2–4pm at their NorthPark location. Everyone, go try it and tell me what you think on Monday.

I’ve had Pink Berry, Berry Berry, and Orange Cup and I think Orange Cup is the best. Not only does it taste good I really like how they put the nutritional information on the side of the cup.

We love it too. But it was even better with free valet.

How does it compare to Natsumi?

OrangeCup wins hands down. I think they put something in there to get you addicted because i am craving it everyday. Acai with mango, kiwi and FRUITY PEBBLES!!!

OOH!! by the way, i saw Jessica Simpson and her manager there last week. The rumor has it that Jason Kidd and Emmit Smith are fans as well.

I had a cup of the natural on Sunday afternoon. Must say, I was drawn there by the live music stage set up next to the counter.

It was very good, but I have to say I was more impressed with fraiche in Palo Alto, CA, where their yogurt is made there at the store from milk that comes from a local organic farm. Their fruit toppings are also organic, and locally-grown if possible. I believe their granola is even homemade.

It would be great if OrangeCup could partner with an organic farm in Texas (I know there are a couple fairly close to DFW that sell their dry milk in bulk). Also, I thought the plastic cups were wasteful. Although recyclable, people are bound to just trash them. I brought mine home to recycle, and remembered to remove the sticky label with the nutritional info.

Until they develop more sustainable practices, for me, it’s not worth the $4+ per cup.

the idea of being sustainable is actually extending the life of something and getting the most out of it by reusing it, not throwing it away to be recycled. recycling is just one small way to be sustainable. did you notice their bags they give away promote sustainability too? the bags are cool and sturdy enough to reuse for daily stuff, plus everytime you fill it up with 2 cups, you get a sticker and after all 12 stickers have been filled, you get a free “orange is green” organic tshirt. guess its part of their being green program. the chances that a paper cup will be reused and have its life extended is zero. the plastic cups however extend their use by being REUSABLE, plus they are more recycleable than paper.

Hey Mary. I work at the Northpark Store and it seems you don’t have your facts straight. We do use organic milk from Texas, and Organic fruit when we can get it. We also make the yogurt in store, and cut the fruit in store. Trust me it is a pain. We have a recycling center directly next to our store, so it is very easy, and in the future we will have a recycling reward station that will pay you for recycling. No to mention are menu and nutrition pamphlets are recycled and are gift cards are biodegradable.

I have worked for pletty of businesses in the past(including starbucks) and none of them have been this “GREEN”.
