Restaurant valet services are not things I’m usually fond of. In Dallas, it’s fairly easy to find a space unless the valet has the lot coned off. However, one area that could use some serious parking-assistance are the restaurants at Armstrong & Central. Lunchtime parking is always a nightmare, and the open spots are ones that will probably get you towed.
That’s why I was happy to see Potbelly (the cheapest spot to eat a tasty lunch near the D office) is offering complimentary valet. They’ve also got curbside pickup, and will deliver under the right circumstances. They even had a guy outside opening the door for people. All that, and my sandwich and chips cost just over $5. Well done. (Slow Clap)
This is a great idea!
I think y’all should write an in-depth article about valet parking in Dallas. You know list the good and bad places, the places that it’s easier to walk to your car than have some valet deliver it to you, etc.
The whole valet scene is just out of hand and something needs to be done. But what can WE do - I know someone will just say don’t go there. In response, the valet disease is spreading. I really lost it when I went to Uncle Julios (on Lemmon) - The valet stand is completely across the parking lot! Whats the use?
It takes a brave man to admit he went to Uncle Julio’s. Just move here from Rhode Island or something? (That “y’all” seemed suspiciously forced.)
I second CKent. It is a fraud. I myself am warry of even free valet as I just don’t trust a stranger having access to my vehicle and its current contents. Even free valets expect a tip. A good story about the “valet nazi’s” should be followed by a story about the “towing mafia.”
How I miss living in Knox-H when I could WALK to such spots.
I…hate…valets (unless they’re like Sevy’s).
