This just in from PR dude, Billy “Bob” Armstrong:
In May of this year, veteran Dallas restaurateur Alberto Lombardi will open a new restaurant in The West Village. The Italian seafood concept, as yet unnamed, will open in the space now occupied by Ferre Restaurant.
Did I miss something while I was away? Patrick Colombo, what’s the deal?
It doesn’t surprise me that they are closing. I’m pretty sure that you have to have customers once and a while in order to stay in business, especially in the high rent district of the West Village.
Patrick has been trying to retool the concept for years; it’s one that simply never worked. Ferre will be closing within the next few days.
Bummer. I hear the company are going to concentrate on growing their Cru concept.
Alberto is doing Italian seafood again? A return of Lombardi Mare? It was tasty before but never quite took off. Oh well. These days he has the Midas touch.
Actually, Lombardi Mare had a nearly six year run with excellent reviews and revenue. It was done in by the aftermath of 9/11.
You mean charging obscene prices for bad food will cause a restaurant to fail?
I agree. Ferre’s prices and quality were certainly factors in its closing.
Well, as someone who misses Lombardi Mare, I’m looking forward to its new incarnation.
Ferre will NOT be missed!
Any word about the future of Ferre’s Fort Worth location?
Ferre location in Fort Worth will be around for good. It is not for sale nor will there be any intentions of selling it.
Ferre is not closing. Lombardi and colombo did not come to terms.
Wineguy, I will check that out.
Yes, the deal went through. The sale to Lombardi is closing next week.
