Okay, So The Focus Really Isn’t On Us Today

It’s over here. But I want to know who else is going to Savor Dallas this weekend. I can only go on Friday night, but I had fun last year at the Wine Stroll and the happenings at Victory.

A friend was asking me this weekend: is this the best food festival we have all year? I’ve never been to the Dallas Wine and Food Festival, but it seems like the events are spread out all over town. Thoughts please.

If you compare the “main” events for each festival, Savor is by far the better event. It is substantially larger and catered by many more restaurants. But DWWF is by no means a bad festival. It is smaller and maybe a bit more focused. That is its strength.
It comes down to what you like…either more food and wine offerings, or less food but better quality wine offerings. DWWF showcases many of the winning wines from the Dallas Wine Competition, which is a guarantee for tasty vino.
So you can’t go wrong with either festival. Savor is larger and offers more overall, plus the chef’s after party is an extension of the fun (aka drinking) from the main event. It just spells “bad hangover” the next day but you’ll enjoy it the whole way through.

It’s true, the DWFF features medal winning wines from the Dallas Wine Competition, so you are guaranteed lots of really good wine. I don’t know how many restaurants Savor has, but DWFF always has the best restaurants in town, more than you can sample in one night. As a foodie, I think it’s Dallas’s best kept secret and has been for the past 24 years. If you like quality over quantity, I would choose DWFF.

My vote is for the DWFF. The events are a bit more intimate and offer a much higher quality of food and wine.
