The “long list” of nominees for this year’s James Beard Awards has been sent to the judges, and this year, five chefs from Dallas are (possibly) in the running:
After this, the list is narrowed to five in each category before the final vote. Cross your fingers for our locals.
A couple weeks ago, I asked for help finding places to eat in Austin. Despite the terrible weather, we had a blast, and did some pretty good eating too. Follow the jump for where we went, and apologies to all of you whose favorites I didn’t go to. I wanted to try them all! Must go back soon…

Seems like only yesterday that I was served a horrible plate of pasta at Momo’s Pasta on Knox Street. Well, they must be doing something right—I just learned Momo’s is readying to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Specifically, this Thursday from 7:00-10:00pm, when they will offer “free appetizers and adult beverages.” Once the D staff finds this out, Momo’s might consider stocking up on those adult beverages,Ifyaknowwhatimean.
