This spot may work for the gals below. Or it may work for you.Nobu is throwing down for V-Day–omakase for two.
Dallas rock stars no less. (Tip of the toque to S.)
OK Dishers, these gals need some help. They write:
Where might some single and flirtatious, late-thirtyish girls go for Dinner on Thursday night? Not too mushy, nice, but not too extravagant? We want to go out because we are the types not to sit at home and feel sorry for ourselves! Love is good! Love is fun! But, who wants to go out to dinner and totally be surrounded by “true love”, and flowers and all that jazz? And we are straight, so I am sure that rules out some places.
They want to go out on Valentine’s Day and not be surrounded by true love? Dig deep. They’re asking a lot. (Waffle House comes to mind.)
Yikes, a SideDisher reports that police were handing out parking tickets to cars parked along the valet stretch. How can they do that when that driveway isn’t even a real street? IJS. Talk about insult to injury. OK, let’s talk about that.
Still looking for a table for V-Day? Perry’s is offering a sexy menu for $90 per person. Hurry. 214-871-9991.
Mike Hoque—Go Fish, Fish Express, Dallas Fish Market–is rapidly becoming the Fisher King of Dallas. It seems like he’s opening a new seafood-centric restaurant every day. This morning a little bluebird flew in to tell me that Hoque has hired Michel Boutemy de Guislain, formerly of the Riviera, Paris Vendome, and most recently at Popolos, as general manager of Go Fish, which is about to relocate from its Belt Line location to the Village on the Green. Hoque also recently appointed Mark Curnow, formerly of Grotto, Tom Tom, and Smith & Wollensky, to oversee both Go Fish and the Dallas Fish Market downtown.Hmm. Village On The Green? Methinks Mr. Hoque might want to talk to the folks behind BLT (Bistro Laurent in Trouble?) Steak before he signs the lease. I hear they’re lookin’ to sell. IJS.
‘Memba Luqa, the fancy pants New American spot downtown? The only thing I can recall about the gone-and- almost-forgotten spot is the food. Oh, and the guy who cooked it, chef David Gilbert He’s keeping busy these days—he wrote the menu for the Woodlands and is focusing on his new showcase restaurant in the Rosewood Court building that is scheduled to open this summer. Somebody please educate me on the economics of opening a restaurant in the Victory Park area. Yo no entiendo.
