New Year’s Resolution: Drink Better Coffee

1. Drink more espresso. Here’s a great infographic to show you what’s what as far as espresso drinks go.

2. Buy fresh roasted coffee, buy it often (every week or two), and grind it at home with a burr grinder. Here’s a few places to score some black gold:

Dunn Brothers - Addison

Coffee Company - Dallas

Mawker Coffee - Dallas Farmers Market (Shed #2)

Addison Coffee Roasters - Addison

Update, almost forgot: White Rock Coffee - Dallas (thanks darley)

3. Learn. You may drink it everyday, but do you really know anything about it? While how the name “Americano” is an insult would go great here, I’m going with Espresso Porn. Other reading material:

Can’t make (good) espresso at home? Here’s help.

You forgot Drip Coffee on Lovers Lane. They roast their own beans in the store all the time. Going there is like wine tasting…how strong do you like your coffee? Do you like it more floral or nutty? The possibilities go on and on.

May I suggest White Rock Coffee (http://www.wrcoffee.com). During the holidays I made some gift purchases there and was helped tremendously by Mary. They even have some live music on Fridays. P.S.- Check the time of your posts (fall back).

DRIP is without question the best coffee in the city. They also carry Doughmonkey pastries which are out of this world.

If you want great Espresso, stop whatever you are doing and order the Aeropress Espresso maker - got it for the holidays and can tell you as a fellow espresso-junkie that its the best invention since the bean. It makes flawless coffee - buy yourself a can of Illy (or fresh roast your own) - its a magical combo

Hi! A friend of mine forwarded the link to this article and and I’m glad he did. I review coffee (and beer) on GroovyBrew.com and have been paying too much attention to out of town roasters, and not enough to our locals. I’ll be correcting that, and checking these places out over the next few months. Thanks!

Also, it appears our Dunn Bros up in Frisco closed down. I haven’t been out in a while to see if they’ve opened up again. I miss that place.

We love our Capresso that grinds and brews coffee by the cup. I honestly do not make coffee any other way. It’s the Capresso or Starbucks.
