Disher Desperate For Lunch

A SideDisher who lives in my old hood asks:

Any news on when Bagelstein’s will open at Preston-Royal Center in old Jason’s Deli spot…it has been under construction for months and we’re in desperate need of more lunch spots/delis in these Preston Hollow parts.

Good heavens consider yourself lucky. You’ve already got a zillion spots to choose from between Preston Forest, Preston Royal, and Preston Center if you can spend 5 more minutes in the car. But I do agree that Dallas is light on great sandwich places. Good local spots like Street’s used to be. You know where they bake their own turkeys and make kookie creations. Can somebody help this desperate housewife?

    Holy Beejeezus:
go to Roys ( Royal and Preston)
nice ladies who call you ‘hon, not some wankered out adolescent rubbing their snot on your rye.

    fresh ( and happy) food

    real inexpensive

ok, so the elevator music is a little nutzo.

but this is the inside scoop

I know that it would involve going north of LBJ, but if you can stand a few more minutes in the car, venture to Deli-News at Preston & Campbell and order the Reuben. Best sandwich in civilization. Not for those who are wary of pro-Soviet tatoos, though. I guess it shows that I’m a capitalist swine because I’ll gladly withstand a little hammer-and-sickle for that sandwich.

Love the original Bagelstein’s at Coit & Arapaho!
