Disher Seeks Caterer

This email came in this morning. Can anyone help this person?

I am looking for a caterer for an all women’s party in Feb - just heavy appetizers, but I would like something new and different.  All the Christmas parties seemed to have the same ole food- this is a chance for someone to be creative!  Any ideas?

New Year’s Resolution: Drink Better Coffee

1. Drink more espresso. Here’s a great infographic to show you what’s what as far as espresso drinks go.

2. Buy fresh roasted coffee, buy it often (every week or two), and grind it at home with a burr grinder. Here’s a few places to score some black gold:

Dunn Brothers - Addison

Coffee Company - Dallas

Mawker Coffee - Dallas Farmers Market (Shed #2)

Addison Coffee Roasters - Addison

Update, almost forgot: White Rock Coffee - Dallas (thanks darley)

3. Learn. You may drink it everyday, but do you really know anything about it? While how the name “Americano” is an insult would go great here, I’m going with Espresso Porn. Other reading material:

Coffee Obsessive videos at Chow.com

Can’t make (good) espresso at home? Here’s help.

Disher Desperate For Lunch

A SideDisher who lives in my old hood asks:

Any news on when Bagelstein’s will open at Preston-Royal Center in old Jason’s Deli spot…it has been under construction for months and we’re in desperate need of more lunch spots/delis in these Preston Hollow parts.

Good heavens consider yourself lucky. You’ve already got a zillion spots to choose from between Preston Forest, Preston Royal, and Preston Center if you can spend 5 more minutes in the car. But I do agree that Dallas is light on great sandwich places. Good local spots like Street’s used to be. You know where they bake their own turkeys and make kookie creations. Can somebody help this desperate housewife?

SideDish is a food-related discussion among editors at D Magazine about the Dallas-Fort Worth dining scene -- everything from good meals to bad service, kitchen gossip to restaurant news, chefs’ secrets to culinary trends. Bon appetite.
